Walking pace is easy to ask about in large surveys, which is why it appears in many population studies.

UK Biobank analyses and others report associations between brisker self-reported pace and favourable cardiovascular and fitness markers.

Pace may partly reflect underlying fitness rather than cause it, so walking faster is not a guaranteed route to better outcomes.

What the data does support is general: regular walking is accessible, low-cost and consistent with activity guidelines for most adults.
