Grip Strength Keeps Outperforming Fancier Tests
A cheap squeeze correlates with outcomes better than several laboratory panels. It is a proxy, not a target.

What the data says
Dynamometer
A hand dynamometer costs less than a month of supplements and has more outcome data behind it than most panels.
Source: Grip strength cohort literature
Grip strength tracks with all-cause mortality, cardiovascular events, and disability across many cohorts and populations, and it does so after adjustment for age and body size.
It works because it proxies total muscle function, nervous system integrity, and general robustness at once. Training grip alone does not move what it measures.
Measure it the same way each time: seated, elbow at ninety degrees, best of three squeezes per hand, recorded with the date.
Treat a falling trend as a prompt to look at overall training and nutrition, not as a diagnosis.
